Search hit highlighting not removed in some cases |
This will
result in the following message: Highlighted search hits
cannot be edited or copied. If you want to edit this word, clear
the current full-text search first by deleting the search term
in the Search Edit Box and pressing ENTER. This message
would pop up when starting up and also intermittently when
switching tabs. |
This bug (actually a combination of bugs) has been fixed. The
fix will be contained in release 3.3. |

Edit
-> Object Properties may crash the program |
This issue
had already been closed. However, it turned out that similar
behavior can still occur. |
Reopened Unfortunately, this seems to be a bug in a
Microsoft component so we cannot fix it. It had already been
reported by us in October 2003 but obviously without success. |

Editing items in Full Page Display (F8) could result in
data loss or data corruption |
Due to a
programming error it was possible to inadvertently delete some
of the empty space ("padding") separating an item's content from
the following item header. As a consequence, the internal
boundaries between items would become messed up, leading to
partially corrupted item data and confusing behavior with
messages like "Highlighted search hits cannot be edited ...".
This bug occurs only in Full Page Display (F8) but switching
back and forth between display types by pressing F8 could
compound the problem. |
This bug has been fixed. Due to the bug's seriousness we decided
not to wait until the next point release. Instead we released
the bug fix as a separate build (3.2.0.1).
There's two ways how you could fix your installation:
You can perform a complete reinstall. Remove
i*write from your
computer (Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs) and then
download and reinstall. This is what
you should do if you have a version prior to 3.2.0.0 or if you
don't know how to locate the installation directory of
i*write on your
computer.
However, if you have version 3.2.0.0 installed on your
computer, it's not really necessary to download everything
again because there's only been a change in a single file. You
can download this file (iwr.exe: for
Windows 98,
Me, NT4 or for
Windows
2000, XP) and replace the old version on your computer with
it (usually in a place like C:\Program Files\Right Mind Logic\iwrite\iwr.exe).
Please do not use this method if you have a version
prior to 3.2.0.0 on your computer!
You can double-check that you have the correct version
installed by selecting About from the Help menu.
After the update, the About dialog should display Version
3.2.0.1. |

| Edit
-> Object Properties may crash the program |
Selecting
an embedded OLE object and then choosing Object Properties
from the Edit menu (or pressing Alt+Enter) crashes the
program. |
Resolved
in 3.2
This seems to have been due to a bug in a Microsoft
software component and has been reported to Microsoft in
October 2003. With the new release of the component the
problem no longer occurs. |

| Copying
and pasting highlighted full-text search hits can lead to
editing problems |
Copying
and pasting text that contains highlighted full-text search
hits can lead to problems later on because the highlighted
text portions have a protected status and can therefore not be
edited or deleted. |

| Edit
-> Replace does not work |
When you
select Replace from the Edit menu, enter text to
be replaced and choose Replace All, all occurrences of
the string are correctly replaced. However, if you instead
choose Replace, you would expect a single highlighted
occurrence of the text to be replaced, which is not the case.
Instead, Replace duplicates the function of Find. |

This behavior is due to a bug in a Microsoft software
